The OranjeWind project (a joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies) and Purus have signed a five-year charter agreement for the operation of the Purus Power, a so-called –C/SOV: construction/service operation vessel. The vessel will be used for planned and unplanned maintenance work within the OranjeWind Offshore Windfarm. The agreement has a term of five years with an option to extend.
The Purus Power is purpose-built for the challenging environment of offshore wind operations. Designed for extended stays at sea, the vessel offers cabins, office space, meeting areas, a gym, and a canteen, ensuring maintenance technicians enjoy maximum comfort. It also features an integrated walk-to-work system, enabling employees to safely transfer between the ship and wind turbines, along with other advanced equipment.
“By bringing the Purus Power into our operations, we’re strengthening not only our maintenance capability but also our long‑term commitment to safe and efficient offshore performance. This partnership with Purus ensures that our technicians have the right tools and environment to keep OranjeWind running reliably for many years to come”, says Bart van der Wielen, General Manager O&M of OranjeWind.
“We are proud to support the OranjeWind offshore windfarm project with the Purus Power during the wind farm’s operation and maintenance phase,” a Purus spokesperson said. “This long-term charter reflects the confidence in our construction/service operation vessel and our team’s ability to deliver safe, reliable offshore logistics. We look forward to contributing to the stable and sustainable operation of the wind farm in the years ahead.”
The Purus Power (length overall (LOA) is 88 meters, width 19 meters, is equipped with a diesel-electric and battery-hybrid propulsion system, enabling flexible and fuel-efficient sailing. The vessel is also prepared for future upgrades and conversion to emission-free energy sources.
